The Belly
Thursday, June 28, 2007
this is the only pic I have of my "with Logan belly". it was taken in San Francisco with Cathy Blois, (center) and Doe (right). looking back, I honestly don't see how my pants stayed up, but from my vantage point at that time I had no idea I was flashing that ammount of skin! This picture was taken a week before Logan was born, but I had forgotten about it. So when I was in the delivery room, 5 minutes away from having Logan in my arms I told one nurse that I was upset that I'd never get a photo of my pregnant belly, which is one thing I had really wanted for some strange reason! I guess the thought process behind that one was that I wasn't (and still am not) planning on being pregnant again. I had thought it would have been fun to have a picture in a bikinni with a big floppy hat on- maybe to equal out the biggness of my belly. ANYWAYS. I've found this picture, and now can look back and remember how awkward it was with a 9 pound baby on board!

two cars- two times the fun??
Saturday, June 2, 2007
so we finally purchased a second vehicle last week- a GMC jimmy. its great for the family, lots of room for trips to the beach etc. (or squashing mom on the floor because there aren't enough seats for said trip to the beach with extra friends on board...)
So I was quite excited to have my second vehicle- I felt free! free to go wherever I want during the morning hours that I'm usually stuck in the house, or limited to short stroller rides. We had the second car registered and on the road on Wednesday, so I ventured out. I only made it to blockbuster to return a movie that would otherwise have been late, and to the library, but it was a great 15 minutes of my life, driving a car that would just be there for me whenever the need arose. Unfortunately, the car has some trouble with a valve and went into the shop on Thursday afternoon. So, after my one lovely day with my car, its gone again for a short time to the mechanics. Friday, however, Nathan went to work as usual, and called me around noon. apparently car #2 (the jimmy) decided to join in on the fun and refuse to start. SO here we are on Saturday, the first week with two cars to our name- one in the shop 15 minutes away, and the other sitting stubbornly refusing to start at Nathan's work an hour away and NONE in our driveway waiting for us to get to the park or Ikea, or wherever else the wind may have blown today.
I just hope that neither car costs too much to fix- our car is already going to be $250 or so for the work that's been done... I'm hoping this is the last problem for a while! So that is the story of a girl that finally got a second car... and now has to learn patience to deal with the maintenance that comes along with owning double car trouble.

Fishie Creek
Sunday, April 1, 2007

So there is a certain time of year when millions of fish swim upstream and overcome obstacles such as waterfalls, strong currents, bigger fish hunting, and as we witnessed today, little boys with "boats" on a string... There is this amazing place about 10 minutes from our house that was landscaped 50 years ago by some guy in the area (yeah, I could have done more research on this, but I was too interested in the actual sights...) where a stream waterfalls into 5 smaller channels and then into a pool where mass numbers of some small type of fish make their way up the stream. the only problem is that only one of the streams has gentle enough slopes that make it possible for the fish to reach their destination of higher ground, the rest spend weeks swimming the few feet against the strong current only to get stuck against the side of the waterfall. the fish are so thick that you can stick your hand in and touch two or three at a time, and can easily catch one with your bare hands.

Here is Nathan catching a fish, and about to rescue it by tossing it above the waterfall to safety. We rescued over 20 in all, although something tells me that the fish would have been fine anyways, even if they had to swim for 3 extra weeks back and forth to find where to go. Its amazing to see how God designed everything in nature- right down to a fish's instinct to tackle such obstacles to make it home... its amazing to see and experience creation up close- catching wild fish with your bare hands, watching as one by one they struggle their way up the creek, or even just looking at the amazing sight of water falling down the waterfall. What a beautiful sight and a fun place to spend the afternoon.

wedded bliss
Thursday, March 29, 2007

It rained so hard on our wedding day that we couldn't get any photos outside, so we had some re-takes done with our amazing photographer Clifton Pratt the next month when Nathan came to Nova Scotia (yes, this was after finding out that we would be separated for the next few months -which actually turned out to be a year from our wedding date exactly.) So I got into my dress again, got my hair done again and Nathan wore his Military dress Uniform, and we had fun walking around this beautiful park and having our pictures taken. After we were done with the photos, we had another mini-honeymoon at Inn on the Lake. I guess the rain wasn't so bad after all, we got two days focused on us instead of just one!!
